WARNING: Season 4, Episode 4 spoilers ahead
The fourth episode of “The Boys” Season 4 has landed, and it's already being regarded as the best of the season so far. With a stellar 9.1 star rating on IMDb, the episode titled “Wisdom of the Ages” has fans buzzing about its shocking twists and turns. The episode centers around Vought's new show "Truth Bomb" hosted by the supe Firecracker (Valorie Curry). While the Boys attempt to blackmail Firecracker, she outmaneuvers them by leaking the details herself. Having turned the tables, she then calls out Starlight (Erin Moriarty) with another shocking allegation.
Meanwhile, A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) goes snooping around Homelander’s apartment, snatching a vial of Compound V and coming face-to-face with Ashley (Colby Minifie), who’s also doing some creeping of her own. Both are putting themselves at considerable risk, as Homelander (Antony Starr) has been on a rampage killing Vought employees.
One of the more gripping storylines involves Butcher's (Karl Urban) deteriorating health condition. With a mysterious worm-like creature burrowing into his brain, speculation is rife that his previous use of Compound V has given rise to a sentient illness. The parallels to the animated "Diabolical" spin-off series could hint at darker consequences ahead.
Meanwhile, the supe-killing virus fans first saw in “Gen V” raises concerns about its potential impact on newly powered characters like Hughie's father (Simon Pegg). If released, the virus may strip their abilities or lead to fatal outcomes. The episode's closing moments suggest Hughie's mother slips his father Compound V after Hughie gets cold feet.
As of this writing, “Wisdom of the Ages” is the third-highest rated episode of the series on IMDb. The top-rated episode is Season 3’s “Herogasm” at 9.6/10, followed by the Season 2 finale “What I Know” at 9.4. The high rating for the mid-season episode is a good sign for the season’s progression, as the first three episodes’ average of 7.6 was well below the overall series average of 8.7.

Actress Cristin Milioti is capturing attention in her new role as mafia family member Sofia Falcone, starring alongside Colin Farrell in Max’s upcoming series “The Penguin,” one of two comic book adaptations she’s appearing in this year. In May, Hulu announced she will join the cast of “Hit Monkey” for the animated show’s second season, premiering on July 15. But this is hardly the first time the actress has starred in a major movie or show. If you’ve seen the trailer new teaser for “The Penguin” and are wondering what you’ve seen her in before, here are some of her top credits on IMDb so far.
The Wolf of Wall Street
Cristin Miliotti may not be the first actor you think of when you recall Martin Scorsese’s 2013 exploration of greed ‘The Wolf of Wall Street,’ but the actress plays an integral role in the story of fraudulent stockbroker Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. As Teresa Petrillo, Militoi brought to life Belfort’s first wife, who was eventually replaced by Naomi Lapaglia (Margot Robbie), aka The Dutchess.
Palm Springs
Andy Samberg’s 2020 time loop comedy was embraced (trying to avoid the like/alike in the same sentence) by critics and fans alike, with a 7.4 star rating on IMDb. But Samberg’s Nyles would have been even more lost without Cristin Militoi as Sarah, a fellow wedding guest and love interest who gets trapped with him in a time loop, repeatedly attending the same wedding for somewhere between 40 and 40 million years.
Black Mirror
“Black Mirror” has featured many talented actors, from Daniel Kaluuya and Bryce Dallas Howard to Aaron Paul and Letitia Wright. Cristin Milioti became a “Black Mirror” alum in 2017 when she starred opposite Jesse Plemons in the Season 4 opener, “USS Callister.” In the Emmy-winning episode, Milioti plays a programmer trapped in a virtual world by her reclusive coworker harboring secret possessive fantasies.
Made for Love
“The Penguin” won’t be Cristin Milioti’s first time on a Max original series. In 2021, the actress starred in “Made for Love,” a sci-fi dramedy about a tech billionaire’s ex who discovers a tracking device implanted in her brain.
Notable TV Roles
Throughout the 2010s, Milioti also appeared in recurring roles on several popular shows you may have watched. She played the eponymous Mother in “How I Met Your Mother,” the coked out stockbroker Whitney in “The Mindy Project,” and as cancer-stricken Betsy Solverson in Season 2 of “Fargo.”

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains light spoilers for “Fantasmas” through Episode 3, “Toilets.”]
Sitting in an office as transparently fake as any late-night talk show set, Julio Torres pitches his idea of Crayola’s next great crayon color: clear. The executives across from him are dubious, even angry at his proposal. “Clear isn’t a color,” one shouts. “If it isn’t a color, what do you call this?” Julio asks, gesturing to absolutely nothing. “Call what?” the suit asks. “The space between us — the emotional space,” Julio says, before waxing poetic (as he has before) about a clear glass of water, clear smells, and the clear memories all around them. “Some things aren’t one of the normal colors,” he says. “They don’t play by the rules of the rainbow. […] To color something clear is to acknowledge that some things are different, and that’s just fine.”

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Doctor Who Season 1 finale “Empire of Death.”] Well, the good news is we now know who Ruby’s (Millie Gibson) mother is after the Doctor Who Season 1 finale, “Empire of Death.” The more frustrating than bad news? The mystery of Mrs. Flood (Anita Dobson), Ruby’s neighbor who knows about the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and has spoken directly to the camera more than once now, continues. Sutekh and his followers (Susan Twist‘s Susan Triad and Genesis Lynea’s Harriet Arbinger) bring his “dust of death” to pretty much the entire universe. Yes, Kate (Jemma Redgrave), Rose (Yasmin Finney), Carla (Michelle Greenidge), Cherry (Angelya Wynter), and Mrs. Flood (with her chilling apology to Cherry) are among the dead (for now?). The Doctor and Mel (Bonnie Langford) escape back to Unit and into the Time Window with Ruby. In that Time Window is a Tardis—made of memories, feeding off Ruby...

When it comes to the family at the center of HBO‘s hilarious Danny McBride comedy The Righteous Gemstones, music is a key component to their bond, but how does the distinctive sound of the megachurch-set series come together? Music Supervisor DeVoe Yates and Composer Joseph Stephens are two of the creatives helping to bring the cheery musical numbers and compositions together along with the more epic and holy-sounding tunes set against the show’s more dramatic moments. Season 3 had its fair share of music moments between Uncle Baby Billy’s (Walton Goggins) Bible Bonkers and the introduction of the Montgomery family. Among one of the first performances of the season though was the inclusion of “There’ll Come a Payday,” the old gospel song Billy sings by the pool at Zion’s Landing, the religious resort the Gemstones opened in Season 2. When it came to selecting the song, Yates says,...

In April 2019, New York magazine published “Larry Ray and the Stolen Kids of Sarah Lawrence,” a shocking account of a group of bright college students who fell under the influence of a classmate’s father and did everything he asked of them, no matter how vile — ultimately resulting in his incarceration for sex trafficking, extortion, and conspiracy. As a Sarah Lawrence graduate, director Elisabeth Rohm read the article with intense interest. “It could have happened to me,” she told IndieWire. “I felt so strongly about that.” Rohm immediately saw the potential for a compelling feature film, but it would take several years of script development and untangling of legal issues for the story to finally make it to the screen.

Apple TV+ brought viewers to Palm Royale earlier this year, making way for a strong ensemble of empowering female characters, among which included Leslie Bibb‘s Dinah Donahue. Becoming Maxine’s (Kristen Wiig) first reluctant friend of the season, Dinah is initially harsh to the newcomer until she helps her access an abortion, a next-to-impossible task in the 1969-set comedy. Realizing she might be able to trust Maxine to an extent, Dinah may be blackmailed into sponsoring Maxine at her ultra-exclusive club, but over time their dynamic transforms into something resembling a friendship. When it came to taking on the role, Bibb says, “There’s this vulnerability underneath her that I was always trying to find. I think that that’s who we all are as people. Nobody’s just an a**hole. There’s a reason we all have some trauma that led us to this point in our lives.

Billy Zane makes his Lifetime movie debut in the network’s new original film Devil on Campus: The Larry Ray Story, premiering June 23. The movie is based on the true story of Larry Ray, an ex-con who moved in with his daughter at Sarah Lawrence College and started a cult that included many of his daughter’s friends. Ray’s crimes were exposed in a New York Magazine article, and he’s since been sentenced to 60 years in federal prison. Zane and director/executive producer Elisabeth Rohm spoke with TV Insider about exploring Ray’s twisted crimes and what happened to his victims. “What I really enjoyed and understood up front why this was absolutely the right place to tell this story was the restraint shown by the platform and the network,” Zane said. “Had it been in the hands of any other streamer, I think it would be too salacious,...

In Episode 3 of “Presumed Innocent” (“The Discovery”), showrunner David E. Kelley turns the heat on Jake Gyllenhaal’s Rusty Sabitch, Chicago’s slick chief deputy prosecutor suspected of brutally murdering his pregnant mistress and colleague, Carolyn (Renate Reinsve). It kicks off with Rusty receiving the shocking text —”You were there, I saw you” — which places him at the scene of the crime, denies him an alibi, and further points to his guilt.
For editor Philip Neel (Episodes 3 and 6), this was a great entry point for cutting Rusty’s obsession with Carolyn and how it spiraled out of control in a twisted confluence of sex, politics, power, and love. “Nobody writes better courtroom drama than David Kelley,” Neel told IndieWire. “And he made a lot of changes. “Only Murders in the Building” will be getting even more murder-solvers with a meta twist.
The upcoming fourth season of the beloved Hulu series will star Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, and Eva Longoria as the film adaptation versions of Steve Martin’s Charles, Martin Short’s Oliver, and Selena Gomez’s Mabel, respectively.
Levy, Galifianakis, and Longoria were all previously announced as cast members, but there roles are now confirmed. All actors are playing versions of themselves.
Of course, Levy, Galifianakis, and Longoria are no strangers to TV. Jennifer Lawrence is leaning in to her Bravo super fandom.
The consummate “Real Housewives” franchise binger and frequent “Wwhl” guest will lead a film in development for Apple Original Films and A24 called “The Wives” that will feature a “Housewives” inspired murder, an individual with knowledge of the project told IndieWire.
Much like Netflix’s “Knives Out” ensemble whodunit, “The Wives” will focus on elite housewives who may or may not have a murderer among them, according to Variety, which first reported the news. Specific plot details are being kept under wraps.

Lady Whistledown would be enjoying every bit of this! After the release of Part 2 of Bridgerton Season 3, fans began speculating that “romantic” and “intimate moments” between Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) were deleted from the final cut. A fan, who dubbed themselves “Lady Whistleblower,” started a Change.org petition and alleged that four specific Polin scenes were nixed, including an “angry kissing scene,” a scene in “in bed together talking about publishing Colin’s manuscripts,” Colin “whispering sweet nothings” to Penelope in front of the mirror, and a “long intimate montage in Episode 8.” The fan claimed that these scenes were viewed by those who had access to episodes in advance. The petition has gotten over 67,000 signatures. It’s unclear where fans got this information from, and two of these scenes were in Season 3. Colin definitely whispered “sweet nothings” to Penelope in front of the mirror in Episode 5, and...

I think about an anecdote that Clint Eastwood once told regarding Chief Dan George. Clint campaigned for an Oscar nomination for George’s excellent performance in “The Outlaw Josey Wales.” A common reply from voters was, “Well, he wasn’t acting. He was just being himself.”
In late October 2019, Sterlin Harjo first mentioned “Reservation Dogs” to me. Sterlin told me that he and Taika Waititi were developing a TV show for FX — and if a miracle happened (God willin’ and the creek don’t rise) and the show got made, he wanted me to be a part of it. Well,...

The Star Wars prequels did plenty of wrong (from the dialogue to the pacing), but they got plenty right, too. Arguably the best thing George Lucas came up with for the prequels was the idea of the Jedi Order as a corrupt religious cult, an organization that indoctrinated their members and tied them up in bureaucracy and red tape.
This idea has only grown over time, with titles like The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian adding to the Jedi just being the worst. Now The Acolyte is here to present a brand new era of Star Wars, one that still shares one big thing with the prequels — the Jedi Order still sucks, and it’s always sucked.

Within a single afternoon, the Perfect Match cast stirs up a perfect storm of drama. Melinda and Harry’s he said, she said kissing scandal throws the villa and his relationship with Jess into chaos, but the finale comes through with the receipts: Unseen footage shows the Too Hot to Handle alums canoodling purposefully out of the watchful eyes of the cameras.
For Melinda, coming between one of the season’s strongest couples was never part of the plan. But while others may be afraid to kiss and tell, she’s clear about her side of the story.
Walking into the boys’ day with the rest of the single women, Melinda says she was “mentally checked out [as far as] trying to pursue anybody,” — she hadn’t been clicking with any of the men romantically. “I didn’t like anyone there and I wasn’t interested in trying to persuade anyone to match with me,...

It’s New York City, 1989. Susan Seidelman is in the delivery room, in labor with her son. “Siskel and Ebert” plays on the TV, and in between contractions, the two critics are tearing apart her new movie “She-Devil.” “Watching them review my film literally with the doctor’s hand inside of me telling me to push was very strange,” Seidelman recalls.
That surreal scene is just one of the memorable moments the trailblazing director recounts in “Desperately Seeking Something: A Memoir About Movies, Mothers, and Material Girls.” By turns reflective and celebratory, the book covers the surprises and setbacks of...

When Anthony Michael Hall stopped by the TV Insider office to chat about his new Netflix movie, Trigger Warning, we had to ask if we’d get to see him again on Bosch: Legacy. Hall appears on the Prime Video series as Special Agent Will Barron, who in the second season led the task force investigating Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) and Honey Chandler’s involvement in Carl Rogers’ murder. So can we expect to see Hall back on the Bosch spinoff next season? “I was hoping so, but… I think they just are leaving that character alone,” he reveals. “I’m cool with it though, but it was weird. It kind of faked me out because the season ended on a cliffhanger, and I was playing this lead FBI guy that was going after [Harry Bosch].” “But listen, I had a great time on that show,” he continues. “You know, there’s...

Despite the stressful scenario, White assured Colbert that Season 3 is binge-worthy, despite his own aversion to watching himself in the hit series. “I have a very hard time watching myself on-camera… I don’t do it, I don’t like it,” the actor admitted. After receiving screeners for the season though, White revealed, “I usually wait for a very long time or don’t watch at all,...

Apparently, the succession plot twists at the Renaissance Fair in Todd Mission, Texas did not end with the conclusion of the three-part HBO docuseries “Ren Faire.” In fact, according to director Lance Oppenheim, it was the airing of the last two episodes on June 9 that actually led to the latest chapter in the saga.
“George [Coulam] watched Episodes 2 and 3, and he loved the series so much that he actually cleaned the office out again and he gave Jeff [Baldwin] his old job back, so now Jeff is the new general manager,” said Oppenheim on an upcoming episode of IndieWire’s Toolkit podcast. “Jeff is back in charge.”
This is the position Baldwin was in at the start of Episode 1 of “Ren Faire.” The loyal, dedicated employee of 43 years, had risen from being the festival’s long-serving entertainment director to its new general manager, in charge of running the day-to-day operations of the...

Billy Zane recently told Entertainment Weekly that “actors should get emotional stunt pay” after he transformed into the Sarah Lawrence cult leader Larry Ray for the upcoming Lifetime movie “Devil on Campus: The Larry Ray Story.” Ray was an ex-con who moved into his daughter’s dorm at Sarah Lawrence college in 2010 and gained manipulative control over her roommates’ lives. His abusive sex cult lasted for a decade before he was convicted and given a 60-year prison sentence. Playing Rey required Zane to gain weight and film several abuse scenes.
“Actors should get emotional stunt pay,” Zane said. “The secondary experience encroaches on the primary.

Kelli Finglass’s voice is the first one you hear in America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the new seven-episode docuseries from Cheer creator Greg Whiteley. It’s not her inside voice, either — like she’s done countless times before, the longtime director of the squad is corralling her team backstage before a halftime show.
“Ok y’all, are we ready?” Finglass shouts from off-screen. “Yes ma’am,” the group dutifully answers. “Listen up!” Finglass says, increasing her volume by just the right number of decibels to let you know she means business. Her tone implies that what’s coming could be a series of last-minute corrections or a full-blown dressing down. But then her voice softens.
“I just want to remind y’all that you are known as world-famous, the best in the business … how hard y’all worked to get here. You’re going to perform like you practice.

He needs to show up. He needs to look forceful and in command of facts,” Griffin continued. “Donald Trump needs to appear not crazy, and I have to say, there is a world in which he could get through 90 minutes,...

Echoes reverberates with callbacks to the previous series (2013-17)—although you will only hear references to, but never see, its principal character, Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) and her scientific offshoots. I’m sure she’s not at all surprised that by the 2050s, where Echoes is set, science has advanced to 4D printouts of vital organs—great for humanitarian transplants!—and, as we soon learn, capable of duplicating full-scale human beings, albeit with fuzzy memories of their source material.
